BlackRock Appoints New Governance Leader

Reuters announced yesterday, the appointment of Ray Cameron as BlackRock’s new head of the americas within its investment stewardship segment. Mr. Cameron will report to BlackRock’s Managing Director and Global Head of Investment Stewardship, Michelle Edkins. He will succeed former head of the Americas, Zach Oleksiuk, who moved on from BlackRock as the leader of its investment stewardship team for the americas and joined New York-based investment bank Evercore as Managing Director in its corporate advisory business late last year.

Reuters states that Mr. Cameron “has a history of building successful teams that interact with top corporate executives,” which will work well with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink’s charge to increase the firm’s level of engagement with companies, according to his latest annual letter to CEOs this year.
